Principals Letter January 14th, 2022

January 14, 2022

Greetings,

So much is happening at PS 20 in 2022.  In the past few weeks, the PTA has raised $9,600 for technology, we received an Arts Grant for $15,000 (thank you grants committee), and our proposal to renovate ABC Playground has received your support.  Check out this article that featured our proposal.  While many community members have tested positive over the last few weeks, most experienced mild symptoms and are recovering.  A huge difference from March of 2020.  3rd graders will begin Ajna Dance, which teaches them Bollywood and traditional Indian dance, 4th graders begin their residency with the National Dance Institute, and 5th graders partner with Rosie’s Broadway Kids learning the choreography and music from The Wiz.

Families should have received a survey from teachers assessing the need for continued remote instruction.  Based on results, teachers will message out continued remote instruction for some grades/programs.  We are excited to welcome those back on Tuesday who may be returning for the first time since winter break.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Jan 17th -MLK Day (No School)
  • Jan 18th -National Dance Institute begins (4th grade)
  • Jan 18th -School Tour @ 3pm
  • Jan 20th -Ajna Dance begins (3rd Grade)
  • Jan 24th -Class Parent Meeting @ 5:30
  • Jan 24th -Lunar New Year Week begins

  • Feb. 7th -11th  -BLM Week
  • Feb. 9th -Vision Screening (3rd, 4th, & 5th grd)

Reminders:

  • At home COVID tests are available for pick up from safety agents.  Just ask.
  • Consider consenting for COVID PCR testing at the school.  It is weekly and saves you from waiting on line.  Log onto the health screening form below and go to the Consent Tab.

Saludos,
