Parent Engagement

Get Involved!

We are always looking for people to help out. We have a lot of ways for your and your family to pitch in: volunteer, donate money, come to PTA meetings, etc.

Volunteer Your Time

Just 10 minutes here and there makes a huge difference. Can you help us with cook labs, selling books, fundraising, or grant writing? Are you tech-savvy or would like to do a little web design? Not sure how to help? The PTA will work with the school and the volunteers to match you up with tasks.

Email us if you’d like to help out or have an idea for a project: ptaquestions@ps20m.org.

Donate Money

There are two easy ways to donate money:

  1. To donate by check or money order, please make a check payable to “PS20M PTA Inc” and drop it in the Main Office.
  2. To donate online, simply click on the button below which will take you to our online donation page.

School Tours

School tours will be given by Principal Pinto at various times throughout the year. Feel free to ask questions during the tour or at the Q&A session following the tour.

School Leadership Team (SLT)

The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of people who develop educational policies for our school. They make sure there are resources to support those policies and provide ongoing evaluations of a school’s educational programs and their impact on student achievement. They play an important role in school-based decision-making, helping to make the school’s culture more collaborative.

Who's on the SLT?

There are three members of the school community who must be members of the SLT:

School Principal, Parent Association/Parent-Teacher Association President, and United Federation of Teachers Chapter Leader

What is Title 1 funding?

PS 20 is currently a Title 1 funded school. Title 1 provides for additional funding to schools and districts to help address the needs of students from low-income families and bridge the gap between them and other students.

Title I parents are also required to be involved in the school’s planning and evaluation of the Title I program and budget through the Title I Parent Committee (PAC).

A Message

From Principal Pinto

"At PS 20, diversity is our strength. We are an un-zoned, multilingual school that is proud to offer Dual Language Mandarin and Dual Language Spanish programs, language enrichment schoolwide, and language classes for parents. Biliteracy, paired with cultural intelligence, is a valuable skill set that will prepare our students to achieve their goals both locally and globally.”"
