Principals Letter May 28th, 2021

May 28, 2021
Greetings,

The past few weeks have been a rollercoaster of events. Thank you to Christine Drago & PTA for organizing these events, and all our parent and staff volunteers that made it so successful. It has been great to see so many of our families and students.

One year ago, our community was in quarantine, many of us with low flying helicopters in our neighborhoods, and/or attending protests for George Floyd and the BLM Movement. While last spring feels like years ago, there is still work to be done in creating a more equitable school for our students and families. PS 20 is committed to revising our curriculum and instruction to reflect our students through representation and criticality. We are committed to continuing conversations with families and parent leaders around our need to be more culturally responsive and culturally intelligent. We are also committed to finding ways to integrate our students across their dual language and special education programs to meet and learn for others who are different. While we have come a long way, there is still tons of work left to do.

Saludos,
