Cool Parent Engagement

Get Involved!

We are always looking for people to help out. We have a lot of ways for your and your family to pitch in: volunteer, donate money, come to PTA meetings, etc.

Volunteer Your Time

Just 10 minutes here and there makes a huge difference. Can you help us with cook labs, selling books, fundraising, or grant writing? Are you tech-savvy or would like to do a little web design? Not sure how to help? The PTA will work with the school and the volunteers to match you up with tasks.

Email us if you’d like to help out or have an idea for a project:

Donate Money

There are two easy ways to donate money: online or by check/money order.

To donate online, simply click on the button below which will take you to our online donation page.

To donate by check or money order, please download the donation form and include it with your payment made out to “PS20M PTA”. Then give the form and payment (in a sealed envelope: “PS20 PTA Dues”) to Tina Mo, our Parent Coordinator in the Main Office.

School Tours

School tours will be given by the Principal a couple of times per month from now thru March 2020. There is also a Q&A session.

Schedule Your Visit

Upcoming school tour dates:

  • January 22 (9am)
  • February 12 (9am)

Feel free to call us (212-254-9577) to schedule directly, or you can also send us an email. We look forward to seeing you!

Our Parent Leaders

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA officers are a diverse and committed group of parents and who work directly with class parents, teachers, administrators, and staff to improve the learning environment at PS20. We oversee subcommittees and hold family events and raise money to enrich the student experience and to engage our families and school community. We are the collective voice of our parents and teachers. We maintain the parent room and parent resources and much much more.

If you’re interested in helping out, or would like to learn more, email us at, call us at 212.254.9577 (ext 114), or visit us in the Parent Room (112).

You’ll be surprised about how much is going on: policies, events and news that could impact your child’s education. PTA General Meetings are held in Room 122/124 on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, alternating meeting times between 8:30am and 5pm. All parents and teachers are welcome. Translation is provided. Childcare is provided for 5pm meetings.
Join the PTA

Be heard! We need your involvement. The PTA is only as strong as it’s members. Please consider joining us in making PS 20 the school we all want it to be. There are no dues, only your time and voice once per month.

What is Title 1 funding?

PS 20 is currently a Title 1 funded school. Title 1 provides for additional funding to schools and districts to help address the needs of students from low-income families and bridge the gap between them and other students.

Title I parents are also required to be involved in the school’s planning and evaluation of the Title I program and budget through the Title I Parent Committee (PAC).

A Message

From Principal Pinto

"At PS 20, diversity is our strength. We are an un-zoned, multilingual school that is proud to offer Dual Language Mandarin and Dual Language Spanish programs, language enrichment schoolwide, and language classes for parents. Biliteracy, paired with cultural intelligence, is a valuable skill set that will prepare our students to achieve their goals both locally and globally.”"
